A few months ago I began my search for pup-friendly meetup places in the northwest corner of the County. List of requirements was short… 1 – the spot needed to have a fenced area where pups could play, and 2 – it had to be close enough to home that it wouldn’t be an afternoon trek to get there.
My husband and I had biked to Roblin Lake a few times this past summer, so I was a bit familiar with the location and decided to check it out with Bodhi. And what a spectacular little gem it is for dog lovers!
Located in the township of Ameliasburgh, this park has everything you’d want – tons of room to roam for hikes or walks, a small, mostly-fenced area for pups to carouse, and the most serene of settings. Nestled beside – you guessed it, Roblin Lake.
A few fascinating facts – Roblin Lake is known as a “lake within a lake” – a pool left behind by the glaciers that was once connected to Lake Ontario. And it’s also home to Canadian poet Al Purdy’s A-frame log cabin.. although I haven’t spotted it yet 🙂
At any rate, if you live in or are visiting Prince Edward County.. and you happen to be near Ameliasburgh – this lovely little spot is a sure bet for a perfect afternoon with your fine furry friend. One of our favourites!
